7 Days Fes to Marrakech Itinerary

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga (Desert Camp)

Depart from Fes in the morning and travel through the Middle Atlas, passing through Ifrane (nicknamed “Little Switzerland”) and the cedar forests of Azrou, home to Barbary apes. Continue via Midelt and the stunning Ziz Valley before reaching Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara.

Swap your vehicle for camels and ride across the dunes of Erg Chebbi to your desert camp. Dinner, music, and stargazing await in the heart of the Sahara.

Day 2: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Wake early for sunrise over the dunes, then return to Merzouga by camel or 4x4. Continue your journey towards the dramatic Todra Gorges, where towering cliffs create one of Morocco’s most impressive natural sights. After a short walk in the gorge, head to the scenic Dades Valley, known for its red rock formations and kasbahs. Overnight in Dades.

Day 3: Dades Valley Exploration

Spend a full day exploring the Dades Valley and surrounding landscapes at a relaxed pace. Day 4: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou

After breakfast, travel along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs towards Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa” for its film studios. Visit Taourirt Kasbah before continuing to the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco’s most famous ksar. Explore its maze-like alleys and ancient granaries before spending the night nearby.

Day 5: Ait Ben Haddou – Taliouine – Taroudant

Leave Ait Ben Haddou and drive southwest, passing through Taliouine, Morocco’s saffron capital. Arrive in Taroudant, a charming town often described as a smaller, quieter version of Marrakech, surrounded by impressive ramparts. Stroll through its souks and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Overnight in Taroudant.

Day 6: Taroudant – Agadir – Essaouira

Head west towards Agadir, Morocco’s main coastal resort city, then continue along the Atlantic coast to Essaouira. Known for its fortified medina, blue boats, and laid-back vibe, Essaouira is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a perfect place to unwind. Overnight in Essaouira.

Day 7: Essaouira – Marrakech
